BBQ Basics

The flavour of food is enhanced by the fire and smoke of the BBQ

The BBQ we're familiar with involves cooking meat over a grill or pit, seasoned with spices and basting sauce.

The cooking technique originates from the Caribbean. Following the arrival of the Spaniards and Columbus in the Americas in 1492, they encountered the Taino people roasting meat on a wooden framework supported by sticks above a fire. The Spanish conquerors adopted this cooking method and disseminated it across the world.

Today variations of the BBQ can be found across the world. This section contains some explanations and handy tips to help you get the most out of your BBQ.
